Bad Mommy

Oh this is bad. Not like, forgot a birthday bad but bad enough.

Hilary, little Hilary, has a few things she considers important in her life. Her blankie that she’s had since she was born that is so full of holes and knots that it resembles something more like sea weed knotted together floating in the ocean than something you’d burry your face in to breathe in the smell. She also very much loves her favourite cereal bowl. It’s been her favourite since she could tell us that it was her favourite. She will use it clean or dirty and gets very emotional when she is negotiated into sharing it with anyone else.

Diego Bowl

Well recently, somebody in this house accidentally dropped it when she was putting away the clean dishes from the dishwasher. And this same somebody felt really bad about it and would do anything to replace it, if she could. She thought about fixing it but the crack was fatal. Maybe, just maybe that somebody is me but I’m not going to say either way.

Sooooo any-who.

The bowl had to sit on the counter for a couple of days so that Hilary could mourn the loss of it while she was getting used to a new bowl. Besides that, if you had seen the quivering lip and tsunami of tears that followed the 5 stages of grief, you would have bronzed that bowl and displayed it along side her preschool graduation pictures. A little counter clutter can be acceptable in times of sorrow.

I think it’s safe to say that I’m a bad mommy but only the kind of bad where I hurt because she hurts and then I turn around and write about it on my blog.

Them’s the breaks kid.

Love you!
