Most of my test drives are SUVs but don’t let that give you the impression that I’m biased against cars. I love all things on 4 wheels. I got to spend a week with the 2017 Lincoln MKZ a fast luxury car not to be forgotten. 
Several things stand out right away when I got in the MKZ. First and most noticeable is the lack of a gear shifter. Instead of the traditional shifter in the centre of the console, there are buttons on the dash to the right of the steering wheel. I admit, I have mixed emotions about this change. I like having somewhere to put my hand but I also like a standard transmission shift car as well. However, the added space for drinks and my phone is also nice. 
Speaking of space. The console has a hidden cubby under the centre dash that would fit everything from your wallet to sunglasses to a phone or two and snacks. It’s open from both the driver side and passenger side and has a small upper cubby for change and gum.
The second most noticeable thing in the 2017 Lincoln MKZ is the speed. The model I drove was a 3.0L GTDI TC V6 gas engine and it was every bit as impressive as it sounds. This car is fast and smooth and with the comfortable cockpit, makes for a great experience.
My overall opinion: In a world dominated by trucks and SUVs, the MKZ is a great car in the luxury category. If you want a low impact ride and simplified interior that still has luxury and all the options of comfort and tech, this is a great addition to your list of cars to test drive. It would stand up well against the BMW 325.
