Back To School Bliss

back to school

Just a few days till all 4 of my whining wonderful children go back to school. Today, yes today, I finally felt that hot, bubbly  rage and an overwhelming need for them to GO BACK TO SCHOOL! Picture it, 10am, cleaning the kitchen and sweeping the floors when two of them were fighting for the 100th time in 90 minutes. I simply opened the back door and pointed to the yard, “GET OUT!”

Ahhhh, the momentary silence.

As I finished sweeping and wiping and scrubbing I daydreamed about all the things I’m going to do when the kids go back to school. And because I love me a good list, I made a list. My back to school bliss.

1) Only sweep the kitchen floor ONCE a day.

2) Shop for groceries without having to play Marco Polo thru the isles. “AAAABBBBBYYYYY, WHERE ARE YOU?” “COME BACK HILARYYYYYY!”

3) Do a workout AND have a shower. No one should have to choose one or the other.

4) Prep dinner without a child tugging on my shirt. “Mommy, I’m huuuuuunnnnggggrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy!”

5) Only have my own ass to wipe. (for at least a few hours of the day)

6) Pee alone!

7) Eat bon bons (this is what my husband thinks I do all day)

8) Watch Ellen (while I prep dinner)

9) Write

10) Return an email in less than 24 hours.

11) Bake a cake.

12) Knit a sweater.

13) Climb a mountain.

14) Cure cancer.

15) End world hunger.

Yup, I’m gonna get shit done when the kids go back to school. Oh the bliss.

Oh who am I kidding? I’ll probably just go back to bed until I have to pick them up from the bus 🙂

What are you gonna get done when your kids go back to school?

First let me say that I am glad to hear that I am not the only mother that grumbles at my broom under my breath and yells “GET OUT” to bickering children.
What I did when the kids went back to school is started writing checks, driving for activities, still working full time and trying to get my husband to take boychild for a haircut, in the second week of school. Kid can’t see the blackboard.
