Water And Wellness What To Expect At The New Nordic Spa In Kananaskis

Sometimes you don’t realize how badly you need a spa until you’re in the spa. I got the chance to check out the brand new (almost finished) Nordic Spa and I’m here to give you the low down.  It’s all about water and wellness here’s what to expect at the new Nordic Spa in Kananaskis.Water And Wellness What To Expect At The New Nordic Spa In KananaskisThe Nordic Spa is a brand new build as part of a multi million dollar renovation to transform the Delta Kananaskis Hotel into the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, Autograph Collection by Marriott. The decor is mountain chic and cozy all over. Wood on the walls and ceilings and industrial pipes everywhere. The faint smell of pine and campfire really helps to set the mood.Water And Wellness What To Expect At The New Nordic Spa In KananaskisOk, enough about decor, let me walk you thru what to expect at the new Nordic Spa in Kananaskis. After you check in and get your blue RFID (radio frequency ID) bracelet that acts as the key for your locker, you head downstairs to the changing room. There are plenty of lockers, a shower area and a hair and makeup area fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner and blow dryers and both curling and straightening irons.water and wellness what to expect at the new nordic spa in kananaskisWe were given a choice of essential oil salt scrubs and directions on how the Nordic Spa works. First stop is the exfoliation cabin. Step inside and scrub down using the salts while breathing in the essential oils. This hot steam room is equipped with hand held shower heads to rinse off the salts with ice cold water. water and wellness what to expect at the new nordic spa in kananaskisLocated directly outside of the exfoliation cabin is the hot pool. This is the first stop in the rotation. It’s recommended to stay in this pool for a maximum of 15-20 minutes. Next to that pool is the gathering pool that is said to be a warm pool. This is the biggest of all the pools in phase 1. Once you’re done in the warm gathering pool, the last stop is the cold plunge pool. Trust me, it’s really refreshing. I suggest getting in fast before your body realizes how cold it is. Once you’re in, it’s lovely, as they say. map of Nordic Spa KananaskisAnd so the rotation continues. Hot, warm, cold, relax, repeat. In addition to the water pools, you can also choose from a variety of other ‘hot’ options to interchange during your rotation. Dry saunas, hot eucalyptus steam, barrel sauna and even several heated hammocks to relax in. There are also 2 fire pit cauldrons at either end of the spa area with chairs to relax by the fire. All that’s missing is hot chocolate and s’mores. The cycle of hot, warm, cold is said to open your pores, release toxins in your body and improve circulationwater and wellness what to expect at the new nordic spa in kananaskisPhase 2 is set to open sometime in the summer of 2018 and will include an additional salt water float pool and a quiet relaxation pool as well as a yoga & relaxation lodge. I really enjoyed the experience of the Nordic Spa in Kananaskis. This water and wellness experience is the perfect setting for couples, a girls trip or solo time as all the pools, steam rooms and saunas are communal. It’s a relaxing wellness retreat that leaves you feeling refreshed. I’m excited to try it out again once phase 2 is finished and all the other renovations are complete. It will truly be a gem in the rockies. Water And Wellness What To Expect At The New Nordic Spa In Kananaskis
