Take Family Movie Night To The Next Level

There’s no question, as my kids get older, I get more and more excited to share classics and favourites from my childhood with them. My friends at Netflix sent me this amazing box for the premiere and revival of Pee-Wee Herman in his latest adventure. I remember as a kid I would set the VCR to record Pee-Wee’s Playhouse on Saturday mornings. His silly songs, his catch phrases, his friends and talking furniture, it was all fun. Opening the big blue box, we got to take family movie night to the next level.

 

Included inside our ‘road trip’ box was everything we would need for a fun movie night with the kids. A map with instructions to watch the movie and when the scene on the map came up, pause the movie and open the corresponding box. So cool. And of course, our invitation to Joe Manganiello’s birthday party. SIGH. Too bad he wasn’t included in the big blue box. AmIright ladies?!

 

The movie starts with Pee-Wee hitting the road to leave Fairville for the first time, ever. Of course, where Pee-Wee goes, adventure and hilarity are sure to follow and we kept up with him the whole time. From bank robbers to being stuck in a well, he found his way on his big holiday. However the only thing that didn’t make any sense was the alien at the beginning, yeah, lemme know what you think about that part?

 

 

My kids were engaged and excited for the whole movie and couldn’t wait to get to the next stop on the road map and most importantly, they too loved Pee-Wee. I guess the apples don’t fall far, do they?

I’m feeling inspired to do my own next level family movie night. You too, could totally do this at home with your kids. Simply pick a movie you’ve seen before, pick select scenes throughout the movie and purchase treats, gifts or trinkets related to those scenes, put together a map for the kids and voila. Your movie night has never been so interactive and a 2 hour movie flies by in a flash. I’m definitely keeping the big blue box to put together another movie night myself!

 

 

 

My kids have officially been spoiled. Our family movie nights will never be the same.
