Site Seeing In San Francisco #MandalaMoms

Being the totally spontaneous traveler that I am (NOT) I got roped in to adding a 24 hour hit and run blitz of San Francisco the day before I was due to check in for BlogHer ’14 in San Jose.

Fun? Yes.

Crazy busy? Yes indeed!

Here’s how 4 gals on the fly had a fantastic, spontaneous day of site seeing in San Francisco…

First off I landed at SFO the earliest out of the 4 of us who were going, which meant that I had to get myself from the airport to the hotel, downtown, alone. I had an expert travel friend tell me that the train system is easy peasy, so I figured that was the way to go. In San Francisco the main public transportation train is called BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and is super easy to use. I paid $8.65 one-way right from the airport terminal which is a lot cheaper than a $50 cab ride!

About 30 minutes later I got off at the Powell Street station right in the heart of downtown. I booked us a hotel using my Hotel Tonight app (you can read my review of this fab app here) and despite going around a block in a complete circle because I was completely turned backwards, I did find the hotel and manage to check us in. Phew.

Hotel room, check.

Let’s SHOP!

4 gals right in the heart of San Fran, you know there has to be some shopping involved. And with shopping comes walking and hills and site seeing and hills (seriously, like roller coaster size hills) along the way. Comfort is priority 1 when traveling and with Mandala Sky clothes on, we were site seeing in style. Mandala Sky is more than just yoga wear, it’s flattering comfort wear for every woman. Designed to flatter your best assets without hugging your less favourite bits and if you end up eating Dim Sum bought from a tiny hole in the wall place in China Town, you’ll have lots of room.

Dim Sum

Ok, before you judge my restaurant choices you should know that although it was a little lot rough around the edges, there was a line up out the door of people eager to buy one of the 3 hot items on their menu. 3 pieces for $1.90. That’s a steal. And Yes, it was good! Although Julie’s face would suggest otherwise.

What a great day with great friends. Walking, talking, laughing, eating, drinking, exploring, shopping and crazy cabbing. It really was the perfect site seeing day in San Francisco. Thank you Julie, Christine and Tara!
