I Found My Tribe

I started blogging in December 2011, almost 2 years ago. When I started I knew nothing, zip, zilch, nadda. Google was my BFF and together we were learning or rather I was learning how to write, link, change settings on wordpress, publish and how to add a track back. So, yeah, I was pretty much lost.

Until I found my tribe.

I found a group of fellow bloggers who connect in a virtual world and work to support each other daily. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a tribe of gals who “get” me and laugh with me and cry with me and love me. My tribe consists of consultants, blog designers, comedians, foodies, reviewers, mommies and lifestyle bloggers, most of whom don’t relate on a blog level but if I need guidance or advice, they’re bang on.

Every. Single. Time.

I was lucky enough to meet 1o members of my tribe when we all descended on Toronto last week for Blissdom Canada. We were like sorority sisters at a reunion when we finally gathered in the same room. There was a round of hugs and then an instant familiarity and comfort that was almost unsettling.

Hey, can I borrow your lip stick? SURE! (well, not mine of course, I’m a germaphobe!)

House of Hygge

These are the type of gals who will share a room or a bed with you at a conference without asking if you snore. They’ll do your hair and make-up before their own, to go to a fancy party. They will push you up on stage to dance with Jully Black. They’ll zip themselves into a full length House Of Hygge onesie with you. They’ll wear MoatHouse shades at night with you. They will dance their asses off (in said onesie and shades) till the DJ packs up to go home. They will laugh at your jokes. They will tell you you’re wrong. They will praise you when you’re right. They will help you find answers. They will encourage you to take a leap of faith. They will stand beside you when you do.

They will be your biggest fan.

Being a stay-at-home-mom can be lonely sometimes, I don’t know about you but I crave adult conversation whether in person or on the phone or online with my tribe. They’re available any time of the day or night and always have a wise word or an LOL to share. Do yourself a favour and go find your tribe today. Join a group. Start a Facebook page. Take up a sport.

Or do what I did and start a blog.

  2. That is awesome!

I am still working – probably not correctly – on finding mine. I have a couple of virtual friends. But, not sure if that is called a Tribe.
