2017 Lincoln MKX: Luxury SUV Of The Future

Spending a week in the 2017 Lincoln MKX was the first time I’d ever been in a Lincoln much less drive one. It was a surprise and a treat to check out a whole new brand in the auto market for me. Without a doubt, the 2017 Lincoln MKX is a luxury SUV of the future.

Based on the Ford Edge platform (which I loved), the 2017 Lincoln MKX takes an SUV to another level with it’s interior finishings and it’s zippy powerful engine. Immediately, I noticed textured genuine wood inlay on the steering wheel and doors and a beautifully laid out cockpit. 2017 Lincoln MKX interior

The biggest thing missing in the MKX is the gear shifter. Replaced by in dash push buttons, the space where the gear shifter once was is now an elevated middle console with cup holders and a hidden cubby for storage. The long list of safety technology is impressive from adaptive cruise, lane assist and forward collision alert but the most impressive thing is the over head camera that was so clear, it showed me the car on my driveway with the grass and sidewalk! 2017 Lincoln MKX interior

The 2017 MKX is jam packed with bells and whistles like Auto Hold that holds the car in a state of “park” when you bring it to a complete stop and take your foot off the break. Like when at a red light. The vehicle seamlessly takes off again at the first tap of the gas. Great for stop and go rush hour.

There were a couple of options that seemed like unnecessary luxuries like a 22 way power seat, 22 WAY, that’s a lot of adjustments to make on a seat. And a button to release the glove box only slightly to the left of the actual glove box. (head tilt) But fun luxuries if you want them. These little surprises are fun to find in vehicles.

My overall opinion: The 2017 Lincoln MKX is a luxury SUV of the future with all the safety and tech you could want and the ability to customize your ride to your liking from seats to steering to the way the ride feels. It’s a comfortable, spacious mid sized SUV perfect for snowbirds who drive south for the winter as well as families with young kids.

The model I tested is listed at $69,275CDN

The 2017 Lincoln MKX starts at $47,650 CDN for the 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine and $54,700 for the 2.7L Twin-Turbocharged GTDI V6 engine.

Statistics show that we ladies influence 85% of vehicle purchases so why not get a Dirty Girl perspective on what’s new on the roads. As always, I promise to give you an unbiased and honest opinion, based on my personal experience.
